6 Weeks to Christmas!

In yet another tribute to the never ending ongoing procession of the days of my life before my very eyes, the news mentions that we only have 6 more weeks till Christmas.

On some level I am chagrined to find the time passing. I recall as a younger person and student that time seemed to linger and that was not always enjoyable. Thanksgiving was so far off. Then Christmas a mere week or two away still took forever to arrive.

Then in course the other traditional college holiday breaks clunked into place like the shorthand of a clock.

In contrast, I can no longer tell the difference between one week and the next. I do the same thing each day. Nothing marks a Tuesday as any different than a Wednseday or a Friday. Sure, Saturday and Sunday are different than the other five, not from each other or from the next set.

Its like when people that like to mark the days off of calendars discover that they have missed several days and mark them all off in a run. Except in real time.

Thoughts on Names

On the way back from babysitting The Canadian’s children we came up with a few ideas on names.

I like multisyllabic names.

The way they tumble out of the month like a stream dashing down the rocks of a creek appeals to my sense of rhythm. Makes you think about the name.

Consider its value.

Heft its weight.

Taste its flavor.

___________

I hope my child is happy and joyful and enthusiastic about life. But I want her to have a name that conveys seriousness and intellgence.

Quite a challenge.

PCP5: The Morning After

I think we are finally getting this pumpkin carving thing down.

I really should stop drinking though. The combination of alcohol at any levels and the arid Colorado climate just does not mix well for me. I wonder why I even try anymore.

Glad we are back to the Daylight Savings Time. Falling back is a nice touch to the weekend. And a big help getting me out of bed these days. I don’t know why I am so dependant on the sun for my schedule these days. Used to be that I could set an alarm and get out of bed. Now I need convincing.

I definately have work to do to stay ahead at the office, but I feel like going into town for a movie. Guess if I knew what was playing I might be better able to make that decision.

Off to get a second glass of water.

Grout Grouch and Mud Girl

The adventure concludes this week.

Tonight the caulking; Thursday the sealing.

Which should leave us the balance of time to clean the garage and house in anticipation of our 5th Annual Pumpkin Carving Party (PCP5).

Looks to be a smaller tighter knit group this year. Returning partiers and close friends. Thus far the line up looks like 18+8; two adults for each child. With that kind of ratio nothing could go wrong.

We intend to have less candy laying around in unguarded areas. The beer will continue to be ungaurded–doubt we need to worry about that yet.
